How To Manage Emotions

Know Your Emotions
The first step to managing emotions is to know how to recognize them. To do this, you must pay attention to how you feel at different times. Being able to identify the emotions you are experiencing is essential to address them appropriately.
Mindfulness is one of the exercises to manage emotions that can be done every day. You only need to spend at least 5 minutes to focus on breathing. It is not about leaving your mind blank, but rather feeling and observing what your emotions are.

Self-reflection
Take some time to reflect on your emotions. Ask yourself why you feel a certain way in certain situations. Try to understand what the underlying causes are. This reflection will surely help you better understand your emotional reactions.
To practice self-reflection, you can help yourself by keeping an emotional diary. In it, you can write down the emotions you have felt throughout the day. By using paper and pen and writing about it, it will help you see your emotions from another perspective and see how you are progressing day by day. Acceptance
Accept yourself as you are without being ashamed of your feelings. Don’t judge your emotions as good or bad, as emotions serve a purpose and can provide valuable information about what your needs and desires are.
Breathing And Mindfulness
Practicing deep breathing and mindfulness can help you stay calm during times of emotional intensity. Mindfulness helps you focus on the present and prevent negative emotions from overwhelming you.
Look In The Mirror
This is one of the most enjoyable exercises for managing emotions. It consists of looking in the mirror and observing yourself as soon as a negative emotion comes over you. The important thing about this exercise is that you look at yourself and smile, even if you don’t feel like it. You’ll see how, even if the smile is forced, that smile releases endorphins that will make you feel better, help you calm down and see the situation from another perspective.
Focus On Positive Thoughts
Since negative emotions cause great discomfort and take up our time and energy, it is best to try to avoid them. This does not mean that you should look the other way and pretend that these emotions do not exist. Ideally, you should detect them, analyze them and let them pass without spending more time or turning them over in your head. Instead, focus on positive emotions and on what makes you happy.
Be Willing
To manage emotions, we must also do our part and have a positive attitude. Committing to our goals and making plans will bring us closer to what we want to achieve. On the contrary, if we feel sorry for ourselves for what happens to us, if we judge ourselves unfairly and use guilt as an excuse for what happens to us, we will not dare to move forward.
Practice Active Listening
To understand the emotions of others, it is not enough to hear, we must listen. Many times we are more concerned with what we are going to respond than with what they are telling us with words and gestures. So try to listen to others and your understanding will improve.
